Niche festivals are getting increasingly effective at building audiences for genre film, and horror has long occupied a special spot at the box office. This week adds 2 new fright fests to the System, in addition to the regular deadline for DRAGON*CON, one of the nation's largest sci-fi events. We also want to remind you not to miss the Regular Deadline (June 16) for the INTERNATIONAL HORROR AND SCI-FI FILM FESTIVAL. The guys who've built the Phoenix Film Festival into one of Arizona's best events are putting on the second edition of what we suspect is going to be an increasingly important draw for those who appreciate a good scare.
